Humboldt Ltda. Installs ABS NS SafeNet
Fleet Management Software
For Three Newbuilds

(Houston, TX---) Administradoras de Naves Humboldt Ltda., one of the leading ship management companies in Chile operating a fleet of more than 20 vessels, has contracted with ABS Nautical Systems for its advanced ABS NS SafeNet fleet management software for three newbuilds.
Humboldt Ltda will install the Maintenance and Repair, Purchasing and Inventory Control and Replication Manager modules on its two tankers and one chemical carrier newbuilds.
The focus for ABS NS is to provide assistance in planning maintenance and controlling inventory for the three new constructions. "Our goal was to give Humboldt the most cost efficient IT tools for managing their newbuild business," said Alvaro Pozo, Manager of Sales and Services, ABS Nautical Systems, Chile.
The Maintenance & Repair module records all maintenance work performed on a vessel by the crew or outside contractors. It provides a complete, planned machinery and vessel compartment maintenance history. It is also used to order services within the company.
The Purchasing & Inventory Control module provides a two-step process for ordering materials & supplies. Requisitions are issued to record material orders by a vessel and Purchase Orders are used to place material orders with vendors. Inventory Control tracks equipment parts and consumable items at various sites, including onboard each vessel within a fleet and at shore side facilities.
The Replication Manager module provides the capability to transfer data between databases at various operational sites including vessels, offices, warehouses, crew agents, suppliers and shipyards. The central database acts as the distribution center for all transactions at all sites that have individual databases.
According to Pozo, it would be a natural progression to extend the use of SafeNet to the rest of their existing fleet.

Currently it has over 20 vessels and 27 tugs under management, with about 600 officers and ratings under contract.
