Robert Kessler, Head of Operations and Sales for ABS Nautical Systems’ European region to speak at
Digital Ship Conference in May
Digital Ship, in association with Shipdex is hosting a one day conference in Hamburg, Germany on May 14, 2008. The conference will discuss the benefits of having shipboard manuals as electronic data, whether you are a ship owner or supplier, and will give attendees an opportunity to learn more about the Shipdex initiative: Getting Rid of Paper Manuals. By having the information that is normally supplied in manuals available electronically, it becomes much easier to have the right information, fully updated, readily available wherever it is needed. Manufacturers can easily send service updates whenever necessary, which replaces the outdated information. Shipdex plans to put ship manuals into a XML format. The manual is supplied in short chapters of text or images, which can include a description of an item or procedure. These chapters can then be imported into the maintenance and purchasing system and be automatically updated.
Robert Kessler, Head of Operations and Sales for ABS Nautical Systems’ European region will be speaking at this conference. Kessler’s topic, Keeping Your Data Clean – How Should Companies Make Sure They Have the Best Possible Data, will cover the effect of poor data quality on business workflow and how to increase your data quality today.
