Gerry Nielsen
Vice President, Operations
Since joining ABS Nautical Systems in 2002 Nielsen has held the positions of Director, and then Vice President, of Operations. In this role he has global responsibility for all Operations efforts, including software implementations, support and consulting services, as well as for managing the Houston based Operations Department. With over 20 years in the maritime industry, Nielsen brings to Nautical Systems a resume that includes senior management positions in the cruise industry, as well as previous experience with ABS as a Marine Surveyor and Program Manager. Prior to working shoreside, he advanced his U. S. Coast Guard license to Chief Engineer while sailing with Exxon and Global Marine. Nielsen has applied this experience and knowledge while leading Nautical Systems through a period of growth and new service offerings that has included expanding into Government contracts.
Nielsen holds a degree in Marine Engineering Systems from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point and lives in Kingwood, Texas with his wife Kathie and three children. Outside of work Nielsen stays involved in his community and has founded and served as board member of a not-for-profit youth sports association in addition to his past involvement in local Volunteer Fire and Emergency Response organizations.
